&before she knew it she was in Kansas without a pot or a window, but she WILL get home.

But blacks know that a person can be lynched in other ways than by hanging from a tree.

This is from the slut walk. One of the arguments is that girls ask for rape because they wear slutty clothes, short skirts, tight, low-cut tops. This girl is an example of the fact that rape victims can look like anyone, you, me, this girl. Rapists. Dont. Discriminate.

I promised a long time ago that I’d reblog this whenever I saw it on my dash. No regrets, it breaks my heart every single time.

an incredibly important message, rape is rape. no one is ever asking for it. a woman has the right to dress how ever they want - it is society that identifies risque dressing as ‘asking for it’, and in my opinion, that way of thinking needs to be diminished.

this is so beautiful

Reblogging again cause of all the reactions, when I reblogged it the first time It had no reactions.

Tired…

In a room fit for a prisoner settling in for life

Pieces of a broken mirror lie still on the floor

And the dust from 20 years of doubt settles on anything that will have it

Like lovers hugging in heat

Praying that nothing will douse their flame

When the lights go down, even the dust has somewhere to go.

The amalgamation of our collective not has a place to call home

And me,

Too light to go home to mother and too dark for father to recognize himself in me

I sit, knees pushed up to my chin, head stuck in my chest and back forever against the wall

These four walls don’t allow for talking because whatever I say will get trapped here.

And whoever dares open this door is surely to be buried in the burdens of my soul

And I’ve already said too much.

These words have trapped me in this room and I don’t have the fight in me.

God help the soul who dares pick this lock.

this is masculinity. strength. beauty. love. all the amazing things allowed to see in the universe…Joshua Brandon Bennett
